Steve Bawol, CEO

Steven Bawol is an American writer/producer/director based in Paris and London, and is CEO of Helion SPS.

He has created, written, produced and/or directed more than 500 episodes of a dozen different television series for broadcasters in the U.S., U.K. and Europe, spanning genres from police procedurals, historical drama, comedy, youth and documentary, working with emerging technology to push the envelope in terms of production, style and technique. 

Bawol created the hit police series “Section de Recherche” for TF1 in France (that channel’s highest rated original drama), and was an executive producer of the Canal +  historical drama “Borgia”.

Most recently he rebooted the classic German family series “Pan Tau” for WDR and has adapted Simon Mawer’s critically acclaimed novel “The Girl Who Fell From The Sky” for television.

He directed the documentary series “Mountain Rescue” for Discovery France about the helicopter air rescue unit of the Gendarmerie in Chamonix, and created and co-produced "Into the Fire: The Marseille Battalion" about the elite fire-fighting unit of the French navy.

Starting his career as a location scout for  “Miami Vice”, was head writer on “William Tell”, the world's first international drama co-production, was a producer/director on the ground-breaking police series “The Street” for Universal, then created and executive produced the off-beat comedy series “Wish You Were Here” for CBS. After a stint developing shows for HBO, they sent him to Europe to produce the comedy series “L’Annexe” for France 2.

In Europe, he created comedies like “One for the Road” for Channel 4 in Britain, interactive fiction like “Boy Meets Girl” for Swedish broadcaster SVT, Nickelodeon International’s live-action comedy series “Renford Rejects” and “Genie in the House”  and executive produced the Teen Nickelodeon US series, “Life with Boys” (written by "Hannah Montana" creator Michael Poryes).

He is a member of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, and has a BA in Psychology from Princeton University.
